Louvered Pergolas — FAQs
How does a louvered roof actually work?
Aluminium louver blades sit in the roof frame and rotate on a motor. Open them flat for full sun, tilt for filtered shade, or close fully for a sealed, weatherproof ceiling. Channels in the frame catch rainwater and direct it down the posts.
Is it really weatherproof when closed?
Yes — when the louvers close, the edges interlock and seal. Rainwater runs through internal channels in the beams and down the posts. Quality systems are tested for heavy rain and Australian wind loads.
What about wind?
Louvered systems are engineered to wind ratings appropriate for your site. In extreme winds the louvers open automatically (or you can open them manually) to let air pass through and protect the structure.
Can I add it to an existing patio?
In many cases, yes — the louvered roof can replace an existing patio roof or be added as a freestanding structure next to it. We'll assess the existing structure at your design meeting.
