pergolas

Custom pergolas, built for the Australian outdoors.

Timber, aluminium and louvered pergolas — attached or freestanding — designed and built to handle our climate and complement your home.

A pergola should do more than look good — it should turn an unused patch of yard into the part of your home you actually want to spend time in. BC Complete designs and builds custom pergolas across Wollongong, the Illawarra, Macarthur and the Southern Highlands, tailored to your site, your home's style and how you actually use the space.

We work in timber, aluminium and engineered louvered systems with motorised opening roofs. Every build is engineered for Australian conditions — wind, sun and rain — with marine-grade fixings on coastal jobs and council approvals handled end-to-end so you don't have to chase paperwork.

PergolasFAQs

Do I need council approval for a pergola?

It depends on size, height and how close the pergola sits to boundaries. Many pergolas qualify as Exempt Development or via a CDC (Complying Development Certificate) — a faster, certifier-issued pathway. We assess every project up-front and handle the approval for you.

Timber or aluminium — which is better?

Timber gives you that warm, natural look and works beautifully with traditional or Hamptons-style homes. Aluminium is virtually maintenance-free, holds its colour and is the better pick for coastal or exposed sites. We'll recommend the right option at your free design meeting.

What's a louvered pergola?

A louvered pergola has motorised aluminium blades in the roof that rotate open or closed. Open for sunshine and ventilation, closed for full rain protection — controlled by remote, switch or smartphone. It's the most flexible outdoor cover available.

How long does a pergola build take?

Most pergolas are completed in 1–3 weeks on site once approvals and materials are confirmed. Larger custom builds with louvered roofs or integrated lighting take longer — we'll give you a clear timeline with your fixed-price quote.
